Position Description: The Social Media Volunteer will help to create and expand engagement and outreach to Threads of Hope shoppers, new potential shoppers, and the general public. Parts of this position will be based out of our SanfordThrift Store and/or Central Services office in Portland and some tasks may be done remotely from the volunteer's home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and manage new content for the Threads of Hope blog
- Update CCM Facebook page with Threads of Hope related posts (in collaboration with Volunteer Services and Communications staff)
- Establish and manage new Threads of Hope Twitter account (in collaboration with Volunteer Services and Communications staff)
- Gather and update content for "Staff Picks" page on website
- Cultivate and manage email database (in conjunction with Communications staff) -possibility to do
- Test new email promotions and social media opportunities
- OPTIONAL: Plan and lead monthly "Up-Cycle" classes at Threads of Hope in Sanford
Impact of Opportunity: The Social Media Volunteer will play a key role in general online promotion of the Threads of Hope Thrift Stores. Proceeds from the store are used to support the programs of Catholic Charities Maine which provide help and create hope for people in Maine.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- Personal experience managing multiple social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc.)
- Creativity, self-discipline, computer literacy, and excellent writing skills
- College degree preferred but not mandatory
- Personal access to a computer with internet preferred, though the volunteer will be able to use a computer at Threads of Hope in Sanford, or at the Central Services office in Portland.
Training Offered: Catholic Charities Maine Volunteer Orientation & Threads of Hope training will occur on-site when volunteer begins service.
Time Commitment/Schedule: Minimum 6 month commitment, approximately 2 to 5 hours per week
