BHH is a MaineCare funded service available to children who are newborn through the age of 20. To qualify for this service, children must have a diagnosed mental health disorder and/or developmental disability.
BHH services are team based and needs driven. Participation in the program surrounds you with support from a team that includes:
The BHH team also has access to a child and adolescent psychiatrist for consultation. Catholic Charities contracts with Dr. Jessica Arsenault to fulfill this role.
The primary goal of the BHH is to fully integrate care between your mental health and physical health care providers. The nurse works directly with your child’s PCP office to assure all on the “same page.” The team will work to assure emergency department usage is minimal and you have the resources necessary to follow appropriate plan of care when you are worried about your child medically or psychiatrically. The HHC’s also operate as case managers by making needed referrals for services, seeking funding and assisting with school advocacy or housing, if needed, among many other tasks!
“As a local area therapist, I am often recommending the children’s case management program at Catholic Charities Maine. I am always impressed with the genuine, professional, and supportive demeanor of the case managers. Families I serve, continue to feel supported and positive about their children’s case managers. I appreciate their dedication to meeting every child’s unique needs.”
