Position Description: The Emergency Response Volunteer Team Leader, is a volunteer leadership role within the Refugee & Immigration Services mission of supporting New Mainers across Maine.  This individual serves as a team leader for regional volunteers and helps coordinate rapid response efforts to address urgent client needs.  The role ensures that emergency supports including food access, transportation, and resource connection are delivered to refugees across the state. The Team Leader will work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator, who is a staff member at RIS.

Key Responsibilities: (specific tasks volunteer will be working on)

- Primary volunteer team leader for emergency response and efforts

- Mobilize emergency response support in collaboration with staff of RIS

- Connect families in crisis with relevant resources

- Serve as a liaison between volunteers and RIS staff

By serving as an Emergency Response Coordinator, you help ensure that New Mainer families receive timely support during vulnerable moments.   Your leadership strengthens community solidarity, improves access to critical service, and help families stabilize. 

Qualifications & Skills Required:

- Strong communication skills.

- Ability to lead and motivate volunteers.

- Cultural Humility and Sensitivity to the experience of refugees and immigrants.

- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in urgent situations

- Moderate computer skills in email exchange, Excel and Word document.

Training Offered: New volunteer orientation, refugee resettlement 101, leadership at Catholic Charities Maine

Time Commitment/Schedule: 15 hours/week during work days M-F - remote/hybrid
