Senior Outreach

One of “oldest” states in the nation, Maine’s seniors live in poverty at higher rates than the national average.

Helping seniors and persons with disabilities remain independent at home and engaged in their communities has been one of the key tenets of Catholic Charities Maine since we first opened our doors in 1966.

Through programs like Agapé, Independent Support Services, and SEARCH (Seek Elderly Alone, Renew Courage & Hope), we provide the companionship and support too often lacking in the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors.

Our volunteers in SEARCH: From friendly visits, transportation, and telephone reassurance calls to help with in-home tasks and referrals to other community services and programs, our passionate volunteers turn isolation into consolation, and replace despair with hope.
