A total of 48 bowlers (from three area parish clusters) participated in the first “Strike Down Poverty” Bowl-A-Thon sponsored by the Portland Thrift Store and held at The Big 20 Bowling Center in Scarborough on St. Patrick’s Day morning. Junior high students, their moms, dads and chaperones had a great time candlepin bowling while raising a little over $750 to help in the purchase of a 45 foot storage trailer for clothing donated to the store.
We want to thank St. Max’s Church in Scarborough, Our Lady of Hope Parish in Portland and St. Matthew’s
Church in Limerick for their great participation. And, a special thank you also to Rick and Mike at The Big 20 Bowling Center for their generosity in hosting the Bowl-A-Thon!
