Portland, ME – Catholic Charities Maine is pleased to announce it has received a Greater Portland COVID-19 Community Relief Fund grant from United Way of Greater Portland to support its Relief & Hope Emergency Services program. The funds will support families and individuals who have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
“With so many Mainers now out of work, these funds are critical and will help us give a hand up to folks in their time of greatest need by providing the most basic of life’s essentials — letting them know we’re all in this together,” said Michael Smith, Catholic Charites’ Director of Mission.
“Thanks to the generosity of our community, we were able to quickly distribute money to organizations like Catholic Charities Maine to support individuals and families who are disproportionately affected by COVID-19,” said Liz Cotter Schlax, President and CEO of United Way of Greater Portland. “We look forward to partnering with Catholic Charities Maine to ensure basic needs and essentials are available to vulnerable households despite the challenging circumstances facing our community.”
