Catholic Charities Maine CEO Named to National Committee

Letourneau recognized for leadership of local agency with Executive Committee selection

Portland, ME – Stephen P. Letourneau, Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities Maine, has been appointed to a national committee that provides guidance and a look into the on-the-ground realities of local social service providers.

Letourneau was chosen as a member of the Executive Committee of the Council of Diocesan Directors for Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA). The body helps provide input on priorities for national leadership, arranges meaningful formation and support of new and existing local agency directors, and helps assure continuous improvement in the Catholic Charities network's provision of quality social services to those in need.

“I am very humbled and honored to serve on the Council,” said Letourneau. “It is personally and professionally gratifying to see the hard work of our agency recognized by national representatives and I look forward to being able to contribute on a national level in strengthening our ongoing work to help individuals and families in need here in Maine and beyond.”

“In our work to be advocates for the poor and those who walk beside them, it is critical to have input from local leaders who have shown a track record of exemplary service,” said Fr. Larry Snyder, president of CCUSA. “I have every confidence that the new members will offer valuable contributions that will help shape and improve our work at the national level.”

The Executive Committee is made up of local leaders from Catholic Charities around the country. Each member serves a three-year term, and helps provide guidance on priorities for the national network to pursue. Letourneau joins three other new members selected to join the committee:

• Ruslyn Case-Compton, MA, Director, Catholic Charities Diocese of Lexington, Ky.

• Marianne Majewski, LCSW, Executive Director, Catholic Charities Diocese of Metuchen, N.J.

• Laura Roesch, Executive Director, Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley, Ohio

They join leaders from Brownsville, Tx., Buffalo, N.Y., Camden, N.J., Charlotte, N.C., Cincinnati, Ohio, Helena, Mont., Pueblo, Col., Shreveport, La., Spokane, Wash., Springfield, Mo., and Youngstown, Ohio in providing guidance to CCUSA, the national representative for Catholic Charities network, which provided help and hope to over 9 million clients nationwide last year.
