Gifts In-Kind

CCM RIS has served thousands of refugees from all cultures and backgrounds. Often, refugees leave their home countries with very little. In some cases, they are not equipped with appropriate clothes for Maine weather. Your in-kind donations support refugee and immigrant families as they start their new lives in Maine. Our deepest gratitude to all our generous donors for thinking of new Mainers!

After a pause in donations due to COVID, we are pleased to introduce new in-kind donation guidelines focusing on the specific items currently needed by our clients. We appreciate and can only accept new and gently used clothing that is clean, and without stains, rips, or broken zippers. Our needs will change periodically, so please check this page often or call June Gagnon, RIS Donations Coordinator at (207) 650-9605 with any questions.

Donations are accepted at the Refugee & Immigration Services (RIS) Office, 80 Sherman Street in Portland on:

  • Tuesday mornings from 9:00 am -12:00 noon
  • Wednesday afternoon 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

To the person who recently dropped off a wonderful donation of about 10 boxes of new and like-new women's clothing in size Large and XL, I would really like to thank you. If you see this message, please send me your name and address at jgagnon@ccmaine.org.

Now accepting Summer 2022 Donations:

* We are in need of clothes for a Syrian  boy who is 4 years old and has just arrived. We don't have anything at all for him. He is wearing size 5T-6.  Many thanks if you can help.*

**We are wishing for a new or used (but in good condition) Fire tablet or similar item, for a teen-age refugee who arrived recently. He is in a wheelchair and has some cognitive delays.  We think he could learn to use this and would have hundreds of happy hours playing games.**
